The very popular annual WIRRAL FOLK FESTIVAL (of music, dance and poetry), based at the Whitby Club and grounds, returns to Ellesmere Port on Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th June 2020. It will be the 15th in the sequence that continues to thrill and attract audiences from all over the UK and Europe.
 
The main artistes will perform 5 concerts in the large concert hall on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening, Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening.  Headline acts are the iconic folk/pop band ‘LINDISFARNE’ from the north east of England and ‘ASHLEY HUTCHINGS’, founder member of another iconic folk rock band ‘Fairport Convention’, who appears with BECKY MILLS from Yorkshire in presenting the musical show - ‘The beginnings of Fairport’.
 
Other main stage acts are the awarding winning trio - ‘TRIALS OF CATO’;   Anglo/French folk/rockers - ‘THE CHURCHFITTERS’;   Merseyside’s very own folk/rock band - MERRY HELL;   Irish singer-songwriter/comedian - ‘ANTHONY JOHN CLARKE’;   contemporary singer-songwriting duo - ‘WINTER WILSON’;   comedy poet - ‘LES BARKER’;   comedian & singer-songwriter - ‘DAVE GIBB’;   Midlands band - ‘THE LOST NOTES’ and all female Celtic & Blue Grass quartet - ‘THE MAGPIES’, from Yorkshire. 
 
Some very talented local acts complete the main stage line up.   They are - ‘FIDDLESTONE’ and the ‘HELSBY MOUNTAIN STRING BAND’ from Cheshire and Liverpool’s ‘UKULELE UFF TRIO’ plus two upcoming solo performers from Shropshire and North Wales - ‘PHOEBE REES’ and ‘BEN ROBERTSON’.
 
 A large Festival Fringe will feature some of the above artistes and many other highly talented performers who will entertain in other parts of the main building and grounds. The fringe programme will include - Mini-concerts;  ‘Chances to Meet’ artistes;  music, comedy and informal jamming sessions;  instrument training workshops; Singarounds;  Songwriting Circles and Poetry. A Craft Fair and Morris Dancing will add to the spectacle.

The venue is a single storey building. Is fully accessible and wheel chair friendly. It is five minutes drive from the M53 motorway.

CAMPSITE:  
Facilities are excellent and are situated on a very large sports field with a hard standing facility. Portable toilets are available on-site.    Showers in the main building.                                                                                                                  Weekend ticket holders can camp for four nights, Thursday to Sunday. Afternoon and Evening tickets for Saturday and Sunday are also available, but with no camping facilities.
The campsite opens at: -  3pm - Thursday 4th June until 12 noon - Monday 8th June 2020.
 
ON-SITE FESTIVAL OFFICE:
Opens at: -  12 noon - Friday 5th June 2020.   Please note that advanced ticket purchasers will need to obtain their festival wristbands at the office showing proof of purchase.
 
FIRST EVENT: 
The first event of the festival starts at 7.30pm on Thursday and is a ‘Sing in the Festival’ Open Mic session.  No wristbands are required.
