A Day in the Life (24 Zero Hours) by Frank Cottrell-Boyce and Hurricane Films

A Day in the Life brings Sgt Pepper to a close in symphonic fashion.

And this new film by writer Frank Cottrell-Boyce and Liverpool’s award-winning Hurricane Films will be a fitting finale when it receives its world premiere at Woolton Picture House.

How do you measure a day? Bus tables, tide timetables, 24 hours….zero hours.

Tom O’Connor plays Arthur in the film, which also features rising star Paislie Reid and which takes a ride on the city’s famous 86 bus – the same route taken to school by Paul McCartney – and through the space time continuum.

Film-makers describe it as a visual collage inspired by the ‘sonic collage’ of the album.

Meanwhile aspiring film-makers are being invited to make their own film about their day on Thursday, 1 June – the date of Sgt Pepper’s release in 1967, which will also be shown on 16 June.

Frank Cottrell-Boyce, is the man behind Millions, 24 Hour Party People and the London Olympics opening ceremony, while Hurricane Films has brought three of Liverpool director Terence Davies’ recent projects – including Of Time and the City and A Quiet Passion – to the big screen.

The 16 June event will include a special Q&A with Frank Cottrell-Boyce.

And following its premiere, A Day in the Life (24 Zero Hours) is expected to be screened at a number of venues across Liverpool.
