Liverpool Hope University will host the annual Cathedrals Group Universities Choirs Festival taking place at the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King on Saturday 2nd March at 7.00pm.

The concert is an annual gathering of 12 choirs from the Cathedrals Group Church Foundation including the University of Winchester, University of Canterbury and Chichester University.

The Wirral Symphony Orchestra will accompany the choirs who will perform with the massed voice in a selection of music of differing styles across the past century, all linked by the British choral tradition.

The concert will include Parry’s magnificent Coronation Anthem ‘I Was Glad’, John Rutter’s ‘Psalmfest’, and ‘They That Go Down to the Sea in Ships’, an anthem written by Noel Rawsthorne, former organist of Liverpool Cathedral, and arranged for orchestra by local composer Richard Miller.

The choirs will be directed by Liverpool Hope’s David Walters.

The event is part of Liverpool Hope University’s 175th Anniversary celebrations this year.
