60 years ago in 1959, Dave Brubeck recorded the internationally known and influential album Time Out. It is an album that, along with Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue , John Coltrane’s Giant Steps and Ornette Coleman’s The Shape of Jazz to Come , changed the direction of modern jazz.  From it, of course, everybody knows Take Five , which came out in 1959 following the release of Blue Rondo a la Turk which was influenced by the classic Dave Brubeck Quartet’s ambassadorial tour of Europe and Asia.

As a 10-year old boy, Darius Brubeck was present with his father on that very tour and during this concert, he and his quartet, formed 12 years ago, will celebrate that musical and cultural journey with hits from Time Out , but also with original compositions and Darius’s stories.
