Following last September's iconic presentation of Different Trains - featuring Steve Reich with London Contemporary Orchestra - Edge Hill station will once again be transformed into an open-air concert venue for this conceptual sequel.

As part of the 2017 UK/India year of culture, Metal presents a performance by Ninja Tune’s Actress, Jack Barnett (These New Puritans), Indian music producer Sandunes, percussionist Jivraj Singh and Hindustani vocalist Priya Purushothaman.

This new piece is inspired by Steve Reich's innovative 80's composition Different Trains, and the stories of those who lived through the events of 1947, with new visual work from award winning film-makers, Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard (20,000 Days on Earth), featuring material from the BFI National Archive’s unparalleled collection of rare films of pre-Independence India which have survived from the earliest days of cinema.

Support for this event will be provided by electronic music duo Darkstar (Warp Records). They will be performing a new composition developed in collaboration with Harthill Youth Centre in Wavertree. Created as part of the Trackbed project, this performance will also feature film material from Cieron Magat.

DJ support is provided by Perera Elsewhere.

Different Trains 1947 is presented by Metal , in partnership with Warp Records, Barbican Centre, and Boiler Room, plus Indian partners Wild City and What About Art?
