EX-PERSONAL COLUMN / ELEKTRA RECORDS SINGER STEPS BACK INTO THE SPOTLIGHT

Marc Vormawah, post-punk Liverpool legend with 80s favourites Personal Column, has his comeback gig at 81 Renshaw on October 27th 2018. The singer/songwriter will perform songs old, new, borrowed and true as he returns to the stage for his first headline solo performance since his late 80s/early 90s stint as a solo star with the legendary Jac Holzman’s label, Elektra Records.

“I’ve been writing and recording constantly and feel ready to do it all properly again,” says the Scouse singer. “I’ll be joined by a band and some very special guests on the night… it promises to be an evening of high song.”

One of the city’s best-loved singers, Vormawah followed up the Peel sessions and Stiff Records’ singles of Personal Column with a move to America and a solo album, released on Elektra Records, in 1989. ‘Too True’ was filled with righteous funk and soul and Vormawah made his mark on radio stations across the States.

Now he’s returned to his singer/songwriter roots and has been making music in the classic Joni Mitchell/Paul Simon vein, with his trademark biting lyrics and soulful singing. “The new material is the real me,” he says. “There are no big companies or producers involved now – just me, my friends and my songs.”
