Monstrous Minds

Twilight Zone… The Outer Limits…Alfred Hitchcock Presents… These stories shocked us, scared us, and embedded themselves into our memories. They were social commentaries and morality tales, disguised as psychological thrillers. However, these types of stories don’t exist anymore. So we want to tell some of our own.

Monstrous Minds are a set of Twilight Zone-style stories for the modern world.

And like any classic Twilight Zone episode, it’s grounded by universal themes that anyone can relate to. This is a series of short new writing that builds upon classic nostalgia and combines it with a 2019 sensibility.

Killing Time by Ste Mc

 

Set in a cell on Death Row. Jacob Maddox has just 48 hours left to live. The play explores the way in which we create monsters ourselves and the ethical debate surrounding the death penalty.

Sleep of Reason by Sean McMahon

 

A reclusive internet troll has a surprising encounter in the real world and meets his match. Will this confrontation alter how he sees the world? This play explores the theme of social media and the monstrous effects it can have on our society and how harmful it can be in the wrong hands.

Ransomeware by Helen Jones

 

Susan reflecting on life and the events leading up to a period of depression. It explores the monsters around us which affect our mental health.

The Midnight Caller by Charles Eades

 

Set in a call centre late at night, this play explores anxiety, loneliness and the hidden monsters we all face in society. Is Humanity the ultimate monster?
