Emily Dickinson has spent the 130 years since her death unfairly pigeonholed as the strange recluse in white.
Filmed in her home town of Amherst, Massachusetts, this documentary is an in-depth exploration of her life and work. Alongside expert analysis it features behind the scenes clips from Terence Davies’ biopic of the poet A Quiet Passion. My Letter to the World takes us on a journey through the seasons of Emily’s life in mid-1800s New England as we engage with her passionate relationships via her letters and poems. As new theories come to light about both Emily Dickinson’s personal relationships and her poetry, we talk to world experts and bring their conflicting opinions to the screen.

Sol Papadopoulos is a six-time winner of the Royal Television Award and twice BAFTA nominated. He founded Hurricane Films with Roy Boulter in March 2000. The ethos to tell great stories is what drives him. Together with Roy, Sol produced three Terence Davies films, Of Time and The City, Sunset Song and A Quiet Passion. All three were well received by critics, with Of Time and The City being BAFTA-nominated. Sol is set to serve as producer on several projects in development, including family drama Triple Word Score (dir. Carl Hunter), written by Frank Cottrell-Boyce and starring Bill Nighy, Victorian rom-com caper Rum Doxy Diver (dir. Lindy Heymann), and OAP odyssey The Last Bus (dir. Gilles MacKinnon).
ROY BOULTER
PRODUCER/SCREENWRITER
Roy enjoyed a successful music career as a member of The Farm, enjoying nine top-forty hits until, after an amicable split in 1994, he turned to scriptwriting, gaining over a hundred and forty television writing credits on shows including Brookside, the Bill and the second – BAFTA winning – series of Jimmy McGovern’s ‘The Street’. Roy became a company director of Hurricane Films in 2001. Together with business partner Sol Papadopoulos, Roy produced three Terence Davies films, Of Time and The City, Sunset Song and A Quiet Passion. All three were well received by critics, with Of Time and The City being BAFTA-nominated.
