Dubbed “the golden standard of spoken word” by The Guardian, Out-Spoken, one of the UK’s premier nights for poetry and live music will are on tour and will bring award-winning artists Anthony Anaxagorou, Joelle Taylor and Karim Kamar to perform alongside rising local stars. Prepare to be moved like never before by some of the UK’s most successful independent artists bringing their unique flavour of rousing, lyrical and radical poetry and music to WoWFest19.

Anthony Anaxagorou is a British-born Cypriot award-winning poet, fiction writer, essayist, publisher and poetry educator. He has published nine volumes of poetry, a spoken-word EP and a collection of short stories. He is the founder of Out-Spoken.

Joelle Taylor is an award-winning poet, playwright and author. A former UK slam champion, Joelle’s most recent collection Songs My Enemy Taught Me powerfully evokes the struggled women face globally, inspired by workshops with refugees, prisoners, young mothers, survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence

Karim Kamar is a pianist and composer from London. He has been performing as a solo pianist since 2013 and has performed at almost every major music venue in London including: The Jazz Cafe, The Forge, Ronnie Scotts and The Royal Albert Hall.

Dorcas Sebuyange is a Congolese multi-disciplinary artist based in Liverpool. She began her creative journey as a poet 11 years ago and has since continued on with additional creative forms such as dance, music and theatre which she predominantly works in. She has worked with BBC, 20 Stories High, Writing On The Wall, International Slavery Museum, Savera UK, Eclipse Theatre and more. She has also just recently released an album titled “Vice Versa” that politically explores realms of consciousness travelling between dreams and reality which is on sale at Bandcamp but also available on more platforms via https://linktr.ee/dorcas.seb.  

 
Amina Atiq is a Yemeni- Scouse writer, performance artist, facilitator and activist.  Amina has been involved in national and international projects, working alongside Roots & Routes international, Ice and Fire theatre, BBC 6 Music Festival, Writing on the Wall, The Arab Arts Festival, ORT Gallery many more. She has been featured on various artistic platforms such as BBC Radio 5 live, BBC Radio 6 music, The Independent, British Muslim TV @thewarehouse, Skinny magazine, Bito Lito, Whispering Dialogue and Human Appeal.
 
Ciarán Hodgers is a multi-award winning spoken word poet from Drogheda. His debut collection Cosmocartography, published with Burning Eye books, is currently on a UK & Ireland tour. He is the Sean Dunne National Young Writer 2010, an International Pangaea Poetry Slam Champion 2015 and the Word War 3 Slam Champion. He’s been featured in The Irish Times, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio Merseyside, Head Stuff, Bido Lito, The State of The Arts and the Drogheda Independent.

This ticket, paid for by you, will be donated to someone who is unable to purchase a ticket for themselves. All you have to do is pay for the Gifted Ticket and we will take care of finding a good home for your generous donation.

Writing on the Wall is a registered charity who engage communities with high quality creative writing events, programmes and opportunities. We strongly believe everyone should have access to high quality arts and culture activity and our Gifted Ticket scheme is a key step in improving how accessible our work is to the community.
 
Who will be claiming your Gifted Ticket?
Gifted Tickets will be offered out to a range of people who do not have the opportunity or means to pay for a ticket themselves. This may include people seeking asylum, job-seekers, people in temporary accommodation, people in the care system, people living in poverty or on benefits and isolated people. Writing on the Wall guarantees to find a recipient for every gifted ticket purchased.
 
How to claim a Gifted Ticket?
You can claim a Gifted Ticket by phoning 0151 703 0020 or emailing info@writingonthewall.org.uk in advance. If you don’t have access to phone or email there may be Gifted Tickets available on the door before the event.
