Andrés Peña – flamenco dancer, musician and choreographer, brings strength, beauty, energy and elegance to the highly personal show ‘PEÑA’, showcasing the very best of flamenco tradition.  Andrés, an accomplished and respected flamenco artist from Jerez, is performing in Liverpool for one night only in the intimate venue of the Capstone Theatre, well-known for its support of world music events of the highest quality.  Andrés is an artist and dancer ‘who never disappoints’ (deFlamenco.com), with his mastery of improvisation, instinctive rhythm and connection with his musicians, transmitting wave upon wave of emotion as he lifts the audience to the heights of this incredible art form.  Often serious, intense and focused, his exceptional interpretation of flamenco songs develops into virtuosic rhythm and exuberant celebration of the music that he loves.
Andrés is accompanied by highly acclaimed musicians, Miguel Rosendo, cantaor (flamenco singer) from Cadiz and Miguel Perez, guitarist from Seville.  All three have grown up with flamenco, their deep love of this music developing into highly successful careers as performers and teachers.  As a team they have enjoyed presenting shows together for many years, in between international festivals, tours and engagements as guest artists.

PEÑA is a show taken from the heart and soul,
without looking for complication but looking for my truth and how I feel it to be reflected in the dance.
For this reason PEÑA is the name of this show, my identity, my blood, my surname.
Dancing this show is like having my first child, where I take everything I have inside and express it with sincerity and with all the truth and affection that is in me.
Its storyline is flamenco without additives or preservatives. Its storyline is singing, playing and dancing in its purest and most sincere state. PEÑA is created in the tradition and legacy of a classic flamenco, giving each dance, each song, each melody, the character and flavor of its origin.
Three flamencos, three artists who will take the stage committed to the public so that their hearts can be touched and feel that they are on stage enjoying a truth as great as it is special, that is FLAMENCO.

Running time: approx. 75 minutes

The performances are supported by Instituto Cervantes
