Brexit has divided a nation and caused much a bemoaned stir across the world with issues such as the Irish backstop and Brits abroad worried they’ll be sent home. It’s brought out impassioned opinions on both sides of the vote and sent the House of Commons into bedlam. Are we feeling strong and stable, or are we shaking at the knees?
Few of us have any idea of what’s going to happen come the 29th March, but hoping to offer a bit of clarity are writers and journalists James Meek (Dreams of Living and Remaining), Ros Wynne-Jones (Senior Feature Writer for The Daily Mirror), Costas Lapavitsas (The Left Case Against The EU) and Anita Sethi (The Guardian, The Observer, The Sunday Times).
James Meek is a Contributing Editor of the London Review of Books. His non-ficition has been awarded an Orwell Prize whilst his novels have been longlisted for the booker Prize, won the Ondaatje Prize and the Le Prince Maurice Prize. In 2004 he was named Foreign Correspondent of the Year by the British Press Awards.
Ros Wynne-Jones is an award-winning journalist and author who writes the Real Britain column at the Daily Mirror, standing up for readers against austerity, and is retracing George Orwell’s journey across the UK for the Wigan Pier Project. She previously covered international development, conflicts and emergencies for a range of national newspapers.
Costas Lapavitsas is Professor of Economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. His book ‘The Left Case Against The EU’ was published in 2018 by Polity Press. He has worked on the political economy of money and finance from a Marxist perspective for many years. In recent years he has written extensively on the Eurozone and on the financialisation of capitalism. He has published widely in the academic field and writes frequently for the international and the Greek press.
Anita Sethi is a journalist, writer and critic and has written for publications including The Guardian, Observer, Granta, TLS, and appeared on BBC radio. She is a Judge of the British Book Awards 2019 and has been a Judge of the Costa Book Awards. She has been published in several anthologies including the Seasons nature writing anthology, Seaside Special, We Mark Your Memory and is forthcoming in Women on Nature and Common People. She was born and grew up in Manchester.

Who will be claiming your Gifted Ticket?
Gifted Tickets will be offered out to a range of people who do not have the opportunity or means to pay for a ticket themselves. This may include people seeking asylum, job-seekers, people in temporary accommodation, people in the care system, people living in poverty or on benefits and isolated people. Writing on the Wall guarantees to find a recipient for every gifted ticket purchased.

You can claim a Gifted Ticket by phoning 0151 703 0020 or emailing info@writingonthewall.org.uk in advance. If you don’t have access to phone or email there may be Gifted Tickets available on the door before the event.
