This special concert marks the centenary of the end of World War I and the death of Scottish composer Cecil Coles who died in active service in 1918. 

Educated at George Watson’s School, Edinburgh, Cecil Coles attended the Royal College of Music on a scholarship in 1907. He later studied at Edinburgh University and Stuttgart Conservatory. On completion of his studies, he became assistant conductor to the Stuttgart Royal Opera and was organist of St. Katherine's, an English church in the city. When war broke out, he joined the Queen Victoria's Rifles and became their bandmaster. Sadly he never returned home. 

Lauryna Sableviciute is a Lithuanian born pianist who has lived and worked in the UK since 1998. She enjoys a busy schedule as an accompanist, chamber musician, musical director and piano tutor at the institutions like RNCM, the BBC, Sheffield University, Edge Hill University and University of Salford. Lauryna is a true advocate of Contemporary Music and is actively involved in promoting new works from around the world. 

Lauryna has recently spent a significant amount of time recording the complete piano music of Cecil Coles and this recording will be released on vinyl in 2018. Her  concert features pieces by Cole but also music by other WW1 composers.
