Unfurl’s music expands across continents, combining Indian Ragas, Flamenco and Arabic music with improvisation to create an original sound ranging from the dramatic to the sublime. Unfurl have been enthusiastically received at numerous jazz festivals including Manchester, Marsden, Marlborough, Brecon, Gateshead and the London Jazz Festival as well as many clubs and theatre venues across the country.

Unfurl originated from the spontaneous jamming between the two founding band members Olivia Moore and Adam Warne in 2006 and has been evolving ever since. Olivia Moore is the band leader. She is an experienced performer, bringing her energy and sensitivity to the band. Dedicated to Jazz and Indian Classical violin, she also draws her influence from flamenco, gypsy and folk music. In Unfurl, Adam Warne mainly plays his speciality of Egyptian percussion, with the riq and darbuka, all with his characteristic spontaneity and passion. Jim Faulkner is an extremely accomplished guitarist and he brings his extensive experience of performing modern Jazz and improvisation to the band. Gavin Barras is currently one of the most in demand bass players in the northwest and his infectious enthusiasm is a welcome addition to the band. John Ball who has been performing Indian music for the last ten years, is the mastermind behind many of the more complex percussion solos and breaks in Unfurl’s material.
